Hollywood film executive [and former husband of actress/singer Barbara Streisand] Peter Guber, along with partner Joe Lacob, outbid Oracle CEO Larry Ellison and purchased the Golden State Warriors NBA franchise [the Warriors play at Oracle Arena] for a record $450 million – although Forbes magazine recently valued the franchise, which has endured one of the worst records of any NBA franchise other than the Los Angeles Clippers, at $315 million

The previous record paid for an NBA franchise was $401 million paid in 2004 for the Phoenix Suns.
