I’d Like To Thank The Academy

Everybody wants to be a race car driver – well, almost everybody, especially those who have no desire to see past next Wednesday [after all, what better mentality to explain what Formula One drivers go through?]. As usual, Sony gives everybody who thinks they are race car drivers a chance to win an online driving contest in their GT Academy contest – which was televised on Spike for the first time last year – and then actually go out and compete with the big boys [and maybe even get a taste of those champagne girls]. The winner was 30-year-old Bryan Heitkotter from Fresno – who beat out 53,000 other Speed Racers and promptly went out and helped his team place third at the 24 Hours of Dubai race in January – then signed with Doran Racing for 2012 and will race in the eight-race SCC Series.

This year’s contest will also be televised on Spike later in the year with registration for the race to run from June 11-24 for a chance to enter the 32-spot driveoff finals in July.
